New Series: Rehearsal Dinners & Welcome Parties

29 11 2010

rehearsal dinner invitation weddingpaperdivasStarting this week, we are starting a new blog series on rehearsal dinners and welcome parties in the Washington, DC, Maryland and Norther Virginia area.

Since the rehearsal dinners are usually planned by the groom’s family, it can often be challenging because the groom’s family may not live in the DC area and may not know the options available here. Many of the guests of our clients do not live locally and our clients want to spend more time with their guests by hosting a welcome party, since they usually cannot invite everyone to a rehearsal dinner.

We are going to try and provide some useful information over the next few weeks to help you through this party of your celebration! We hope you like it! Email us if there is anything you want us to cover. — Vicky

Dear Vicky, Chris and I just wanted to write you an email to thank you for everything that you did for our wedding.  It was truly an amazing day and you were such a wonderful asset to all of it.  I was so reassured having you there, and I was so nervous that I really needed it.  My mom and I will absolutely write a testimonial for you. Bride & Groom

I just loved working with this family. They were so nice to me during the entire planning process. What was so funny with this wedding was that there were so many surprises – the bride had a surprise for the groom; the Mom had a few surprises for her daughter. Too much to keep track! Stay tuned for more from this wedding — Vicky

In Search of the Perfect Event Shoes

15 11 2010

I am constantly in search of the perfect shoes appropriate to wear at a wedding. Given that I regular stand non-stop for 12 straight hours, no shoes have provided the support I need. I usually wear a comfortable pair of shoes like flip flops or sneakers for set up and then switch over to heels once guests arrive. Unfortunately, I rarely have the time to make the shoe switch. The other day, I stumbled upon this pair of cute Calvin Klein’s at DSW. From the top, the patent leather bow and trim give the black shoes a bit of pizazz, while the sneaker like bottom give me decent support. While I don’t love the white part of the sole, it’s not usually that noticeable.

What do you think?

So far so good after 4 weddings. While not perfect, at least I can walk without much pain the next day! — Vicky

… Sunday was just the cherry on a wonderful wedding cake of a weekend.  From Thursday evening through to the end, our celebration could not have been more perfect and you were a tremendous help in making that happen.  Given all that was on my plate … and Claire’s full schedule, we just could not have done it without you.  Your gift is not simply to get the job done, but to manage it all with great calmness and grace and efficiency  (even when folks don’t follow directions! ).  That is special … Finally, it was a splendid wedding, wasn’t it? Bottom line, Vicky, you’re great!  Thank you again. Fondly,
Kathleen. Mother of the Bride

I’m so luck to have several weekends in a row of beautiful fall weather in DC, giving our clients the opportunity for some gorgeous outdoor photos. I will share this wedding with you very soon — Vicky
