Ceremony: Old Post Chapel, Ft. Myer

Reception: Washington Golf and Country Club, Arlington, VA. Molly Jones Radigan (Events Coordinator)

Remember this sneak peek? The rest of this wedding story …

I’m a true believer in that inspiration for a wedding can come from anywhere. For this wedding, the whole look and feel came from the bridesmaids’ dress. A Priscilla of Boston brocade knee-length dress with empire waist and pleated bodice in a gold and silvery tone.

Pretty, right? All the bridesmaids looked great in the dress, including the bride’s sister who was very pregnant.

The whole look followed the champagne and pearls look and feel.

One thing I love about this wedding was that there were quite a few surprises! Keeping them straight and remembering not to put them on the timeline were a struggle, but very fun in the end. One of the surprises was the groom’s cake, designed to look like a fire truck as the groom is a fire fighter in New York. How cute is this?

Dear Vicky, Chris and I just wanted to write you an email to thank you for everything that you did for our wedding.  It was truly an amazing day and you were such a wonderful asset to all of it.  I was so reassured having you there, and I was so nervous that I really needed it.  My mom and I will absolutely write a testimonial for you. Bride & Groom

I just loved working with this family. They were so nice to me during the entire planning process. What was so funny with this wedding was that there were so many surprises – the bride had a surprise for the groom; the Mom had a few surprises for her daughter. Too much to keep track! Stay tuned for more from this wedding — Vicky

Real Wedding: Springtime Garden Wedding in Alexandria (Part 3)

28 06 2010

I know it’s been a while so got back and see Part 1 and Part 2 of this wedding.

Papeterie wedding stationery

Coordinating wedding stationery (invitations, table numbers, escort cards, menus) we provided through Papeterie. Love the way it all turned out! Bottom right photo by Deb Lindsey. Others by Vicky Choy.

Venue: River Farm Alexandria, VA, Janet.  We love this venue. The gardens are beautiful and Janet is very helpful. Just remember that they do not allow for amplified sound outdoors.

Photographer: Deb Lindsey + Katharine Frey. Deb is becoming one of my favorites. She creates consistently impactful images. What’s not to like?

Videographer: Blue Sky Films, Shelley. The couple hired a videographer last minute but Shelley was very easy to work with an easy going. You can’t go wrong with Blue Sky Films.

Floral Designer: Bergerons Flowers. First time working with this designer. Personally, I really liked the centerpieces more than I liked the personal flowers.

Caterer: Complements Catering

Invitations & Paper Products: Event Accomplished, Megan. All the stationery coordinated perfectly with the silver and plum color scheme.

String Quartet: String Poets. No complaints.

Band: Hipshack via Sam Hill Entertainment. Not bad for a 3 piece band! River Farm suggests no larger than a 5 piece band in the ballroom.

Transportation: Fleet Transportation. A minor hiccup but I would use them again.

Hair & Makeup: Aveda Circe Salon, Alexandria, VA.

Accommodations: Hotel Monaco Alexandria

Cake: Hollin Hall Pastry Shop.

Real Wedding: Springtime Garden Wedding in Alexandria (Part 2)

26 05 2010

Back in Part 1, I showed you a sneak peek of Lesley and Chris’s engagement session with Deb Lindsey. Here are some of Deb’s favorites from the wedding day. When you see them together and interact with each other, you can see why this relationship works. Check out more photos from their wedding day on Deb’s blog and the slideshow on her website.

I have to share with you something about this wedding. April in DC is very unpredictable weather-wise, which makes an outdoor wedding a little dicey. The weather forecast had predicted rain all day on this particular day and in fact, it had rained on and off all morning. I was all ready to move the ceremony under the tent but Chris decided to take a chance and have the ceremony in the gardens anyway. Once you commit to an outdoor ceremony, with chairs all set up and guests all seated, there is no going back. If it starts to rain, you hope it only drizzles or else everyone will make a mad dash towards the tent. I was most worried about the string quartet with their valuable instruments. Luckily, the weather held out and we ended up with only heavy clouds. Thank you Mother Nature but you surely stressed me out! More recap to come  — Vicky

Before we share with you Lesley and Chris’s wedding photos, here are some teasers from their engagement session. Living in Denver and both being doctors, they had very few trips back to the DC area. Thank goodness for flexible vendors. Deb Lindsey, their incredible photographer, was willing and able to shoot their engagement sessions the week of the wedding.
