Real Wedding: A Memorable Memorial Day Weekend Wedding (Part 1)

30 06 2010
On a day where the weather could have gone one of two ways, two people came together to make one.  Katie and Patrick chose Memorial Day Weekend to get married and have a relaxed and beachy feel wedding held at The River Farm in Alexandria, Virginia.   This suited them well, as they are laid back, put together and fun loving people.   And most importantly they love each other, the pictures are proof. They had a vision for their day and rain or shine it was going to be exactly what they wanted.

In their tasteful and chic style they decided to claim their base camp at the Lorien Hotel in Alexandria, which provided great pictures and posh suites for partying!  It is in the presidential suite we had to make the biggest decision of the day, outside or inside. The wedding day weather report did not look good.  We checked it at least every half hour and finally Katie and Patrick decided to take the chance and have the ceremony outside.  They made a great decision. The weather turned out to be sunny and warm!  Here are a few sneak peak pictures taken by their photographer, Ralph Alswang.  Stay tuned for part 2, where I will give you the wedding day details. — Megan

Real Wedding: Springtime Garden Wedding in Alexandria (Part 3)

28 06 2010

I know it’s been a while so got back and see Part 1 and Part 2 of this wedding.

Papeterie wedding stationery

Coordinating wedding stationery (invitations, table numbers, escort cards, menus) we provided through Papeterie. Love the way it all turned out! Bottom right photo by Deb Lindsey. Others by Vicky Choy.

Venue: River Farm Alexandria, VA, Janet.  We love this venue. The gardens are beautiful and Janet is very helpful. Just remember that they do not allow for amplified sound outdoors.

Photographer: Deb Lindsey + Katharine Frey. Deb is becoming one of my favorites. She creates consistently impactful images. What’s not to like?

Videographer: Blue Sky Films, Shelley. The couple hired a videographer last minute but Shelley was very easy to work with an easy going. You can’t go wrong with Blue Sky Films.

Floral Designer: Bergerons Flowers. First time working with this designer. Personally, I really liked the centerpieces more than I liked the personal flowers.

Caterer: Complements Catering

Invitations & Paper Products: Event Accomplished, Megan. All the stationery coordinated perfectly with the silver and plum color scheme.

String Quartet: String Poets. No complaints.

Band: Hipshack via Sam Hill Entertainment. Not bad for a 3 piece band! River Farm suggests no larger than a 5 piece band in the ballroom.

Transportation: Fleet Transportation. A minor hiccup but I would use them again.

Hair & Makeup: Aveda Circe Salon, Alexandria, VA.

Accommodations: Hotel Monaco Alexandria

Cake: Hollin Hall Pastry Shop.
