Just when I thought all my friends have gotten married, my husband and I find ourselves attending 4 weddings this year. In May, we attended my b-school friend’s wedding and recently we attended a unique Afghani/Pakistani wedding. I only wish the couple had provided some kind of explanation of what was happening during the wedding rituals.
What I find very interesting is that Middle Eastern weddings are similar to Asian weddings in the abundance of colorful wedding outfits, like Indian saris and Chinese qi paos, in stark contrast to a western white wedding gown. This couple also sat on a stage much like a mandap in Indian weddings.
